Frequently asked questions

See what clients are asking us daily…

What is Income Protection Insurance and how does it work?
Income Protection provides a regular tax-free income if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury. Payments continue until you return to work, retire, or reach the policy’s end date, depending on the cover chosen.
How much of my income will be covered?
Most policies cover 50-70% of your pre-tax earnings. This helps maintain financial stability while ensuring that payouts do not exceed what you would earn working, which could discourage returning to work.
Can I claim for mental health conditions?
Yes, many policies cover mental health conditions such as stress, anxiety, and depression, provided they prevent you from working. However, exclusions may apply depending on your medical history.
Is Income Protection different from Critical Illness Cover?
Yes. Income Protection provides ongoing payments if you can’t work, while Critical Illness Cover pays a one-off lump sum if you’re diagnosed with a serious illness covered by your policy. Some people choose to have both for complete financial protection.
Do I need Income Protection if I get sick pay from my employer?

It depends. If your employer offers full sick pay for an extended period, you may not need immediate cover. However, most employers only provide statutory sick pay (SSP), which may not be enough to cover your expenses. Income Protection ensures long-term financial stability if you’re unable to work for an extended period.
